Budget the set, not one hero shot
A workable default is 300KB to 1MB per photo, then add them up with a little room for the message body. Six photos at 800KB is already close to a 5MB work mailbox before you write hello.
The box on this page starts at 1MB per file because that is a sane single-attachment habit. Change it when you know the remaining budget. Batch the folder, then download a ZIP if you want one packet on disk.
ZIP is for you, not a magic mail format
The ZIP button packs the compressed files so you can move them. Attaching that ZIP still counts against the same mailbox cap. Some filters also block ZIPs. When in doubt, attach the JPEGs directly.
